John B. Shook

John B. Shook is co-founder of Shook & Stone and is active as lead trial counsel on many of the firm's largest cases. With more than 18 years of experience in complex personal injury trial work, John represents adults and children injured or killed as a result of defectively designed and manufactured products, as well as victims of medical malpractice, defective premises, motor vehicle negligence, industrial accidents, and insurance bad faith.

John is a member of the American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America), the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Nevada (Elected Chair of the Clients' Security Fund 2009 - 2011) and the Oklahoma Bar Association. He is one of the first attorneys in Nevada to be certified as a Personal Injury Specialist by the Nevada Justice Association (NJA). Read more about his certification here.

John is a past member of the Board of Governors for the Nevada Justice Association where he has been honored for his help in enacting legislation to aid Nevada's injured and disabled. John is also a Colleague of the Nevada Law Foundation and a graduate of both the National Criminal Defense College and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. In addition, John has served as a member of the Nevada Medical Legal Screening Panel, which reviewed for merit all medical malpractice claims filed in the state of Nevada. John is currently an arbitrator for the Eighth Judicial District court-annexed arbitration program, a position which for which he also served in previous years.

Charitable Work

John is married to Julie Shook, a former deputy district attorney with the Clark County District Attorney's office. Together, John and Julie actively support a variety of charities, including HELP of Southern Nevada, the Children's Advocacy Project (Legal Aid of Southern Nevada), Families for Effective Autism Treatment, New Horizons Center for Learning and the KLUC annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive. Additionally, as a member of Nevada's Citizens for Justice, John has made significant charitable contributions to help ensure that the law protects individuals who would otherwise not have a voice in our government.

Along with his wife and daughter, John founded and continues to operate SpectrumConnects, a charity whose mission is to help kids on the autism spectrum find other kids with similar interests and abilities to make lasting friendships.
